Participants in our work trade program sign up for a shift doing one simplified part of the harvest process. The work trade program has never taught successful storage techniques in-depth like the workshop; also, we won't be training new dividers as part of our work trade program this year. Participants will still be able to join in on digging, washing, stamping, and fulfilling fall orders, taking home tubers in exchange for their time - but there won't be training on storage or dividing. Work trade is loads of fun and a great educational experience because participants get to ask us lots of questions while we work together, but the program is designed to be a trade - we give you some knowledge and experience, you give us some time and labor. The Harvest and Storage Workshop on the other hand is a deep dive educational experience that teaches you the entire process from garden cleanup to storage. We're focused on pouring into you and making sure you leave with a thorough understanding of how to work with these unique plants. In contrast to Work Trade, the most difficult parts of the process, dividing and storage, are the focus of the Harvest and Storage Workshop. The workshop also comes with more tubers for you to take home than a work trade shift, as well as access to the digital companion course, which will be a game changer for many gardeners.

Sure! Recording of the whole workshop is not allowed, but if you take photos and videos here and there, please share them with us so we can use them to tell the story of our farm better for future visitors, customers, and workshop participants.

No, sorry. Each ticket reserves a space for only one attendee. Each attendee is an additional load on our space, tools, and teaching time, which must be reserved for those who paid for a ticket. We will require any uninvited and unpaid non-ticket holders to leave the premises during the workshop. Thanks for respecting our time, attention and resources, and that of the other paying participants!

For the basics - yes! But it will take you much, much longer (years longer, for most people). That's because there are so many confusing and conflicting sources of information out there; much of it is repetitious; a lot of it is delivered by well intended but inexperienced people; that info won't necessarily be tailored to your individual needs and situation; and it's not sequential, so you'll have to skip around. All together, it's enough to make your head spin. It's very hard to find brief, correct, sequential and expert-level training on how to manage a dahlia harvest online, delivered by people actually growing dahlias successfully at scale. We never took an affordable weekend course on processing a dahlia harvest, but boy do we wish we could have. We learned the hard way, in bits and pieces, sorting out the truth from many conflicting sources, over many growing seasons. Instead of spending the next three to five seasons with frustrating trial and error, you'll get to take in all those years of hard-won knowledge in one day via a fun, sequential process while you actually do a real dahlia harvest, using our plants -- and get the opportunity to ask us whatever you want throughout the day, specific to your own needs. Don't forget to factor in the tubers you'll take home. No matter how many social media comments, Youtube videos, or blog posts you read, you won't end up with 20 premium tubers to try out what you've been taught!
